PRO­POS­ALS to build a new cin­ema in Fort Wil­liam will be show­cased next week and Lochaber res­i­dents are be­ing urged to give their views.

Lochaber Cin­ema Group (LCG) will be hold­ing a drop-in event next Satur­day where the plans can be viewed. The group will wel­come any thoughts and opin­ions from those in­ter­ested in hav­ing a cin­ema in Fort Wil­liam again.

LCG aims to buy unit five and six at Airds Cross­ing in Fort Wil­liam town centre – for­merly Wynnes Butcher and Oceans take­away – for a com­bined price of £180,000 and trans­form it into a two-screen, 160-seat cin­ema.

In com­pli­ance with its char­i­ta­ble sta­tus, LCG hope to help im­prove the arts, her­itage and cul­ture in the area as well as pro­vide an­other recre­ational space for young­sters to en­joy.

The con­sul­ta­tion meet­ing will take place at Dun­cans­burgh MacIn­tosh Church on Satur­day Au­gust 19 from 1.30pm un­til 5.30pm. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend and for fur­ther en­quiries call 01397701126.
