PROPOSALS to build a new cinema in Fort William will be showcased next week and Lochaber residents are being urged to give their views.

Lochaber Cinema Group (LCG) will be holding a drop-in event next Saturday where the plans can be viewed. The group will welcome any thoughts and opinions from those interested in having a cinema in Fort William again.

LCG aims to buy unit five and six at Airds Crossing in Fort William town centre – formerly Wynnes Butcher and Oceans takeaway – for a combined price of £180,000 and transform it into a two-screen, 160-seat cinema.

In compliance with its charitable status, LCG hope to help improve the arts, heritage and culture in the area as well as provide another recreational space for youngsters to enjoy.

The consultation meeting will take place at Duncansburgh MacIntosh Church on Saturday August 19 from 1.30pm until 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and for further enquiries call 01397701126.
