NEWS that Lynn of Lorne Care Home has been issued with a warning notice by the Care Inspectorate because of its poor standards prompted a flurry of comment. Cheryl Bryars said: ‘i feel sorry for the staff i know how much pressure they are under not changed at all from when i worked there.’

Suzy Anderson wrote: ‘It’s really not the people working there, it’s the management and directors. I can guarantee that the staff go home exhausted and heartbroken every day, no one does that job for the pittance they are paid if they don’t want to help people. Heard a lot about the appalling culture there, change needed for staff and residents. Both deserve so much better.’ Margaret Blair posted: ‘More pay doesn`t make you a better carer . Caring comes from within . Standards come from who is managing this home, and many like them . Bless the people that are left uncared for . The fees paid they should be living in luxury.’

Allan Strang Jnr commented: ‘I’m speaking from experience of working in the mentioned place for 6 years. I’ve seen the evidence of the place with directors putting their pockets first. £700 a WEEK for 62 residents. £1.23 A day for to eat per person. Where apart from the poorly paid wages was the money going. Because at the end of the day it wasn’t going on the premises or on equipment to ease staff workload or enhance elderly folks lives.’

Elaina Macdonald said: ‘I don’t understand why staff don’t speak out even anonymously?? I know that it must be difficult but there is lots of staff that have left and knew what was happening and said nothing!! When you make an anonymous complaint to the care inspectorate that is exactly what it is, unless you give your name!! I’m not blaming the care staff as it’s ultimately down to the owners and management, I do think all staff have a responsibility to the vulnerable people in their care to keep them safe and a clear picture of what’s going on in their “Home”!!’ Donna Prosser responded: ‘its not easy for the staff of private companies to do so! Especially in that one! Even anonymously the management have ways of finding out and staff are penalised!’

Vary Ferguson blasted: ‘Lining their own pockets!’

Frances Black wrote: ‘The management need to help the hard workers , its a thankless task if short staff too and rubbish pay.’

Siobhan Guiheen posted: ‘They have wonderful staff over there years , and still have . Maybe some should ask how they feel leaving to go home at night can tell u many are heart broking , the company who owns with are there to make money.’
