OBAN – United Auctions held a special sale of all classes’ lambs and sheep at Oban Livestock Centre on Tuesday September 19 when 3,465 head was sold.

The entry of lambs consisted mainly of smaller hill types which proved hard to cash.

Ewes sold in keeping with current levels.

DALMALLY – United Auctions had a catalogued entry of 9,983 sheep at their annual breeding sheep sale at Dalmally Auction Mart on Friday September 22.

A packed ringside of buyers was presented with a selection of quality stock in all sections. The following were the sale averages in the various sections.

Cross-bred gimmers £96.86 (-£3.01), Blackface gimmers £97.30 (+£0.93), cross-bred ewes £45.84 (-£8.36). Blackface ewes £48.05 (-£5.27), cross-bred ewe lambs £50.05 (-£5.18).

Blackface ewe lambs £54.77 (+£8.45). The lead price of the day went to M/s McArthur, Arnicle when they sold a pen of six for £680 per head.

LOCHBOISDALE – United Auctions held its second sale of all classes’ lambs and sheep at Lochboisdale Auction Mart on Wednesday September 20 when it had a catalogued entry of 2,077 head.

A good offering of lambs were available and sold well in keeping with current mainland values with the overall average dropping £1.45 per head on the year. Principal lots and prices: Lambs:
