Busy Fort SWI programme

-

THE FORT William branch of the Scottish Women’s Institute had to change its plans last week when the speaker scheduled to open the new season had to withdraw at short notice.

Institute member Heather Davie stepped in with her book folding demonstration which had been planned for the November meeting.

Everyone at the well-attended gathering got to work quickly, with much chat and hilarity. The ladies were encouraged to finish their project at home and bring it along to the next meeting when they will be judged.

It is hoped the talk by Rachel Maclean on the Sandpiper Trust, which had been due to open the season, will go ahead at the next meeting on Monday November 6 at 7.15pm in the Montrose Centre, Inverlochy. The Sandpiper Trust is a charity which trains and equips first responders in remote areas of Scotland to deal with emergency medical conditions until full medical services arrive.

Talks on disfigurement makeup, a trip to nepal, ‘Twiddlemuffs’ and gentle exercise are included in the 2017/18 programme. A warm welcome is extended to women of all ages.

The syllabus also includes the Fort William institute centenary celebrations and previous members are invited to get in touch with Edythe Knowles on 01397 702744 or Martine Young, 01397 702758, for more details.
