Rain and wind fail to deter MOJO crowd
DESPITE the remainder of Ophelia battering Ardfern last Saturday, a large crowd turned up to support some of Argyll’s most talented musicians.
With acts including Peter McClardy, Andre van Well, Danny Carroll and Citizen 9, the Ardfern crowd were treated to a range of different musical styles.
First up onto the stage was Peter McClardy, who gave an endearing folk-style repertoire of his own life experiences and musings.
Next to step into the MOJO limelight was Andre Van Well, who set the tone for the night with some soulful acoustic tunes.
Danny Carroll then took to the stage with his sidekick Eric Dearie, performing a host of different styles of music including acoustic and rock, with a few ballads and harmonies in between.
Oban band Citizen 9 were next up as the event’s headliners with a full on rock set with the audience dancing to energetic songs produced by the group.
Rock lovers didn’t allow the band to leave until they were all danced out, with several encore songs extending their performance.
A great night was had by many, with organisers wishing to thank those who helped the event come together.
Lead organiser Dan Griffiths said: ‘A huge thank you must go out to Matt Walsh, who treated the audience to fantastic lighting and sound.
‘I also want to thank volunteers Brian, Tristan, Jamie, Dan, Julie Lucy, Andre and Matt, who kept the night flowing smoothly.
‘A special thanks also must go to the supporters of the event. Lynn from McColls, Ardrishaig, for the drink supplies, Leslie at Dalriada signs, Tiziana and the Craignish Community Hall committee.
‘And also to those who helped sell tickets, including Oban Music Shop, Ardfern Stores, the Marmalade Deli and the Argyll Bookshop in Lochgilphead.
‘Finally, thanks to the performers who entertained so massively and to all those who came.
‘Make sure to look out for more MOJO in the future.’
