Lochaber businesses gather to grow greener credentials

MISSED Highland Sustainable Business Week in Fort William? Don’t miss out on free support.

Last week, Highland businesses gathered at the Nevis Centre in Fort William to find out how to beat rising energy, water and waste costs – and grow more profitable, greener businesses.

Several leading local businesses took part in the free ‘business briefing’ as part of Highland Sustainable Business Week.

Hosted by experts from Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Efficient Scotland programme, the briefing introduced the Scottish Government and ERDF-funded support available to help small- and medium-sized enterprises cut costs and boost profit.

This includes expert consultancy advice; grants; and interest-free loans of between £1,000 and £100,000.

As well as finding out about free support, attendees were also treated to a gondola ride on the mountain of Aonach Mor.

If anyone missed the event don’t worry: Resource Efficient Scotland offers this support free, all year round.

Since 2015 the Resource Efficient Scotland programme has helped businesses across the country to identify more than £42 million worth of savings. That corresponds to 24 per cent energy saving per business on average.
