THERE will be an open day at West Highland College UHI on Saturday November 4, from 11am-3pm, offering people the chance to meet staff and learn about higher education opportunit­ies.

LOCHABER Phoenix boxers will be in action this Saturday, November 4, when the club hosts its latest show at the Nevis Centre. Boxers from all over Scotland will be taking part with European medallists, GB champions, Scottish champions and internatio­nalists all featuring.

Bouts start at 8pm with doors open at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Nevis Centre or anyone connected to the club.

The club is also holding an open day at its gym at Ben Nevis Industrial Estate on Saturday November 11 from 12.30pm until 4pm. The event will take the form of an inter-club boxing and sparring session.

The open day, including a raffle, will help raise funds for Fort William man Gary Campbell to receive stem cell treatment in his battle against MS. Treatment for Gary is only available in Mexico and will be self-funded. For more details call 07747 196765.

A BUTTONS and Bows Concert will be held in Kilmallie Community Centre, Corpach, on Saturday November 4, at 7.30pm.

Tickets £7. Tea and coffee will be served.

NETHER Lochaber Community Associatio­n is holding a community event on Sunday November 5.

The associatio­n is developing a new picnic site and view point at the side of Gleaner Oil’s fuel stop in North Ballachuli­sh. Permission­s and funding are in place and the next priority is clearing the overgrowth and levelling the site, ahead of surfacing the area. Meet at Gleaner Oils, Onich, at 10am. FORT William Accordion and Fiddle Club is holding a musical evening on Tuesday November 7, at 7.30pm, in the Railway Club, Inverlochy. Guest artistes are Gemma Donald and Alan Small. Everyone welcome. Admission £5. Tea and raffle extra.

STAFF and volunteers from Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) for sight and hearing support will visit Mallaig on Tuesday November 7. From 2-3pm, representa­tives will be based at Mallaig Medical Centre to offer help and advice to anyone with a hearing or sight loss. The team will also supply NHS hearing aid batteries, re-tune the hearing aids and help with any other difficulti­es. No appointmen­t required.

THE NEXT meeting of the Fort William branch of the Scottish Women's Institute will be held on Monday November 6 in the Montrose Centre, Inverlochy, at 7.15pm.

BALLACHULI­SH Community Company will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday November 9, starting at 7pm, in the village's Jubilee Pavilion. Members and residents are welcome to attend.

WOMEN’S Aid will be hosting its annual general meeting at 5.30pm on Wednesday November 15 at Voluntary Action Lochaber's offices, An Drochaid.

The meeting will be an opportunit­y to find out about the group's work over the past year and their hopes and plans for a future free from domestic abuse. Refreshmen­ts will be served. To attend, phone Lochaber Women’s Aid on 01397 705734.

AN AFTERNOON of workshops, live music and shopping with small local businesses and artists will be held at the Railway Social Club, Inverlochy, on Saturday November 18. Tickets £5/ under-16s free.

LOCHABER Camanachd Club will now hold its annual general meeting in the Bridge Cafe, Spean Bridge, on Friday December 1 at 7.30pm.
