Our story last week about the project which is aiming to have Oban’s Cathedral of Trees, at Glencruitten, restored prompted a response from readers.

Jessie Keymel wrote: ‘Thank you for showing this I have often wondered if there was still a Cathedral of Trees. I left Oban in 1954.

Janet Booth asked: ‘Where is this?’ Kerry-anne Wallace responded: ‘Up past the golf course turn left at junction up to Mackays pond then you see a place called Grass Roots just down from there you see a building plot next to houses park, there and head into forest. Would love to see this fully restored was up last week and was very sad to see it so neglected. Remember many childhood walks and wanting to sit in the pews.’ Moira Cameron said: ‘Such a beautiful spot and a lovely idea.’

Colline Mackiggan commented: ‘Happy memories of childhood Sunday walks.’

There was an outpouring of concern for the welfare of Agnes MacKechnie, the Oban woman seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Hallowe’en. Danielle Hay-West posted: ‘Wishing a speedy recovery. Hope they have caught the driver responsible.’ Lauren Thomson said: ‘Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.’ Audrey Hunter wrote: ‘Our lovely neighbours. Thoughts and prayers from Ken and I.’

Iain Macdonald commented: ‘Hoping your recovery continues.’ Julie Mckay posted: ‘Hope to see you home soon Agnes.’

Claire Evans said: ‘Hope she is on the mend soon. A lovely lady.’

Beth Campbell wrote: ‘Awful news. Agnes is one of the best people I know. Sending every positive vibe I can and hope to hear good news soon. Lots of love.’

Mogie Gallagher posted: ‘So sorry to hear this Agnes. Hope you’re ok and recover quickly. Sending out thoughts to you, David and all the family.’ Karen MacKechnie, Agnes’s daughter, replied: ‘Thanks, it means a lot to us that everyone is thinking of my mum.’ Sharon Bratton, Agnes’s sister, commented: ‘I am sure when she gets to see this she will be overwhelmed with all you lovely people who are worried about her.’
