Ten-pin bowling strikes up again in Fort William

TEN-PIN bowlers are back in action as the new season got under way at the Nevis Centre in Fort William this month.

After week one in the Lochaber Building Supplies 10-pin bowling leagues, three teams – British Legion Fort William, Council and The Domino’s – sit at the top of the scratch division with the maximum five points. In the handicap division, Domino’s are the only team with the maximum five points, followed by Alleycats, British Legion Fort William and Council all on three points.

Individual­ly the best game in week one came from Tony Whitelocke (Alleycats) with a 207. Also this week Ben Weller (The Empire) rolled a 174. Tony Whitelocke swept the board with the top handicap game of 225, the best two game scratch series with 354 and the best two game handicap series with 390.

The best team scores of the week came from Alleycats with the top scratch game of 611, two game scratch series of 1,148 and two game handicap series of 1,508 whilst Council had the top handicap game of 811.

In the second week of league competitio­n, Council lead the scratch division with the maximum possible 10 points followed by The Empire on seven points and Alleycats on six points. Council also lead the handicap division with eight points followed by The Empire and The Fillies Plus Gillie both on seven points.

Individual­ly, the best scratch games in week two came from Ben Weller (The Empire) with games of 202 and 190.

Weller swept the board with the top handicap game of 231, the best two game scratch series of 392 and the best two game handicap series of 450 – all season highs.

The best team scores of the week came from The Empire who swept the board with the top scratch game of 601, the top handicap game of 806, the top two game scratch series of 1,152 (the season high), the top two game handicap series of 1,562 (the season high).
