Reindeer parade and Christmas lights

-

Sir,

What a fantastic evening on Saturday November 18 for the BID4Oban (Business Improvement District) reindeer parade and Christmas lights switch-on.

It was great to see so many people out and about for the arrival of Santa with his reindeer.

These events do not just happen without the support of the community and organisations that give up their free time to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the public.

BID4Oban could not put on the parade without the Rotary and Lions clubs of Oban. Along with Oban FM and the various vendors, everyone was well catered for.

Special thanks have to go to the street lighting and amenities teams at Argyll and Bute Council, some of whom travelled up from Lochgilphead and pulled out all the stops to ensure a seamless lights switch on.

BID4Oban acknowledges the support of West Coast Motors and taxi drivers for putting up with the inconvenience of having to move from their normal locations for the early evening. Thanks also to Oban Pipe Band for leading the parade and Police Scotland for ensuring safe passage through the town.

We will be back next year for another memorable parade and anyone who has any suggestions for how to make the event even better should feel free to contact us at the BID4Oban office.

Andrew Spence,

Chief executive, BID4Oban Ltd.
