Trolley dash winner bags £366 worth of food
THE WINNER of Aldi Oban’s supermarket sweep took home £366 worth of food and raised the same amount for charity.
Anne MacLennan from Oban won an in-store competition to take part in a five-minute trolley dash in aid of charity on Thursday November 16.
The Oban store matched the value of Anne’s haul and donated £366 to her nominated charity – Hope Kitchen.
Anne said: ‘I had a fantastic time. I can’t believe I collected so many Aldi goodies in such a short time. Thanks to Aldi and the amazing staff for making it such a great experience.
‘I’m really happy Aldi are also going to donate the same value to Hope Kitchen. I am really glad my success will help lots of other families, especially at this time of year.’
Graham Nicolson, group buying director at Aldi in Scotland, said: 'We created the Aldi supermarket sweep as a fun way for our shoppers to help support their local community and get at least a few days worth of shopping for themselves.
‘Anne has scooped an astonishing amount of treats for herself and helped raise a huge amount for her local community foodbank.’
Dr Stuart Chalmers, chairman of Hope Kitchen, said: ‘We are really grateful Anne chose us as her supermarket sweep partner. She did a fantastic job and flew around those aisles.
‘We also want to say a huge thanks to Aldi for the donation. It will go a long way and help provide food to the individuals and families we serve.’
