There is widespread concern about the condition of the roads in Argyll. Many readers commented on the issue on The Oban Times Facebook page when we asked if people had suffered damage and where the worst examples were to be found. Ewen Campbell: ‘Connel is shocking and they had the cheek to put up a sign saying “temporary road surface“as if they were working on it! No, just poor quality products/laying.’

Stuart Chalmers: ‘Connel is the worst. V poor workmanship and some serious damage to cars inevitable, especially when holes filled with water and therefore hidden.’

Bob Gibson: ‘Connel road is like a farm track. Drivers are all over the road trying to avoid the potholes, dangerous or what.’

Jenna MacCuish: ‘From miller road junction right up to drummore road enterance is horrific. I weave all over the road to TRY and miss the giant holes – road tax ....... for wot?!?!!!’

Mark Cringean: ‘I’ve lost 2 children and a dog down the potholes in Connel ..... does that count?’

Jan Roberts: ‘As you drive into Connel is terrible.’

Emma MacDonald: ‘Argyll square!’ Laurie Cameron: ‘Also stone point inveraray is awful.’

Anna Daley: ‘Hit a pothole and wheel rim seriously damaged as a result. Tyre went flat. Had to replace wheel and tyre! Expensive and directly a result of the pothole.’

Steve Letford: ‘Connel and Connel

Bridge.’

Eszter Domina: ‘The road in Connel is really bad just now. Maybe the use the potholes to prevent speeding?!’ Wendy Mowbray O’Ryan: ‘Outside Inveraray is dreadful A82.’

Laura Cumming: ‘Connel is the worst! But the roads in general are getting so bad. The Connel road is like a track road!’

Tom Hayward: ‘Not looking forward to my mot soon, certain I’ll need to make repairs to the suspension.’ Laurie Cameron: ‘Main road connel.’
