Thursday February 1 Beinn Mich Mhonaidh, Glen Orchy

This Corbett is prominent in the view up Glen Strae but well hidden from most other directions. It is a new walk for our group. Start from the Eas Urchaidh CP at NN242321 on B8074. Cross the River Orchy and take the track leading N up through the forest for approx 2km. Turn right at a junction at NN232332, cross the Allt Broighleac­han on the footbridge, then turn left and follow the path W to the forest boundary.

Exit the forest at the stile near Airigh Chailleach Shielings, at NN209335. Climb NW up the slope to reach the crest of the SW spur of Beinn Mich Mhonaidh, turning NE to reach its summit, 796m.

Continue NE to a group of small lochans, then turn S down the slope to the forest boundary.

Relocate the stile at Airigh Chailleach Shielings and return by the outward route.

Saturday February 3 Laudale coastal circuit, Loch Sunart

A walk from Laudale Ho on the S shore of Loch Sunart with splendid views up and down the Loch. It is a new walk for our group.

The estate operates a seaplane to bring in the guests.

Start from the end of the public road at NM756599. Follow the track along the shore, cross the bridge over the Laudale River and fork left on to a footpath at NM733603. Follow this up through the forest, heading NW to a gate in the fence at NM719612. Stay on the track, somewhat overgrown, for a further 150m to a junction, then turn sharp right and zig-zag down to Dubh Lochain. Cross the burn issuing from the lochan and pick up the track leading NE down to the coastal track between Laudale and Glencripes­dale. Turn left to reach Rubha Aird Earnaich, 1.8Km, for fine views W down Loch Sunart to Carna and Ben Laga. Return SE along the track to the Laudale River bridge and follow the outward route back to the start.

Sunday February 4 Beinn a’ Chreachain, Beinn Achaladair

Head NE along a track and a path to Crannach Wood, having crossed Allt Coire Achaladair, and cross a footbridge over the railway at NN349454 (alternativ­ely, stay on the track, cross the river by the footbridge, which is not marked on the map, and go under the railway by an underpass.) Continue east to reach the Allt Coire an Lochain and follow it to the lochan.

Ascend up grassy slopes to the NE ridge of Beinn a’ Chreachain (1081m). Go SW to attain the summit. Descend NW to the col at the rim of Coire an Lochan and climb SW up to the level ridge of Meall Buidhe. Descend and follow the rim of Beinn Achaladair’s NE coire to its summit (1038m). Continue over the south top and descend to the head of Coire Daingean, then NNW back to Achallader farm.
