The news that Fort William Football Club directors are to step down at the end of the 2017/18 season sparked discussion on social media Jamie Bradbury: ‘good luck to all up there. sad news. only lived up fort 3 yr but some gud selfless men involved in youth set up so feel for them. my laddie played 1st competitive football there b4 alloa n now stirling albion. not an easy job in a remote area but men like Scott Duncan danny conlon n calum maclean have all worked their socks off n wud like to thank and wish them good luck.’

Kevin Ferguson: ‘Hopefully it’s a case of one door closing another opening. Fantastic youth set up with probably over 100 local kids playing throughout the age groups with lots of volunteers giving up their time to progress these young ones. People from outside are quick to slag it off with the occasional 1st team score but nobody realises the finances of most of the teams in the Highland League.

.... What a pathetic opening comment too. Players from all over the Highlands have played for the Fort. Must be quite a widespread ‘Clique’’

Hannah Gillespie Michael: ‘The club will be taken over by someone I’m sure. It’s a highland league club at the end of the day and a great opportunity for someone who has a bit of time and money’

Andy Maclean: ‘Here’s hoping G, as a kid growing up, you always trained to play for the 1st team and helped you make friends for life, it’s a tough commitment but worth it.’ The design of a new country house on the shores of Loch Awe sparked plenty of comments.

Kenny Harris: ‘I think it’ll look great, they can’t all be like fairy tale castles or something off a shortbread tin forward thinking and innovative just what’s needed ..... ’

Justin Forsythe: ‘That’s never a county house, a city house for a city maybe?? Its not very fitting in to the shores of awesome!!’

Nick Mcintyre: ‘Looks like designed on Minecraft computer game .’

Lorne Fraser: ‘It’s like a modern take on the Hydropathic ruins .... ’

Sheila Dee: ‘Like a broch? More like a Lego set. A child of 5 could have done better!’
