Connections over for another year

-

Another Celtic Connections is over and this year’s 25th anniversary festival was an absolute blast. I have been lucky to attend and perform at a number of shows over the past few weeks that will live a very long time in my memory.

The final weekend of the festival certainly didn’t disappoint. Thank you to everyone who attended our Tide Lines gig in St Luke’s on Saturday night and, indeed, to everyone who has downloaded or shared the YouTube video for our latest single, Streets of Dreamers, released on Friday.

While we all had a night in on Friday to ready ourselves for the following day, many people were out at concerts such as Skipinnish in the Pavillion Theatre and the Elephant Sessions in the Old Fruitmarket.

Those shows were both sold out and, by all accounts, completely lived up to expectations.

As usual, there were huge numbers of audience members across all the shows who had travelled down from the Highlands and islands for a weekend at Celtic Connections.

One such gentleman was Donnie Morrison from Kishorn who joined up with his old pal Donnie the Hearrach in a formidable double act known as ‘the two Donnies’ but now referring to themselves as ‘the Double Ds’! Surely this duo are destined to be given a slot at next year’s Celtic Connections.

Sunday was the final evening of this year’s festival and, after gigs such as Mànran and The Young Folk in the O2 ABC, and The Mavericks in the Old Fruitmarket, everybody descended on the festival club for one last horo gheallaidh until the wee small hours of the morning and gave this milestone 25th Celtic Connections the send off it deserved.
