FOR 126 years the Highland Cattle Society has held a Spring Show and Sale of the best pedigree Highland cattle .... and the 127th is an event not to be missed with 90 entries.
Sunday: Oban Livestock Centre will host some of the top UK breeders and their cattle to provide an opportunity for expert stockmen to present their immaculately groomed animals to judge Charlie MacLean, Mortimers Farm, Eastleigh.
Monday: Raymond Kennedy of United Auctions will invite bids from breeders, experienced and new, who have travelled from all over the world to buy new stock in the exciting atmosphere of this, the Original Highland Cattle Sale.
All visitors are welcome as well as buyers and enthusiastic spectators. With helpful staff and hundreds of knowledgeable members of the Highland Cattle Society in attendance, there is no better place to discover all you need to know about this iconic breed.
The AGM takes place on Saturday at The Royal Hotel, followed by a drinks reception.
Trophies will be presented at the society’s dinner and ceilidh at The Royal Hotel on Sunday February 11 at 7pm.
This year various Oban businesses have kindly offered to support the show and sale by serving pure pedigree Highland beef.
Whether you cook the skillfully butchered meat yourself or sit back and let local expert chefs show you how it is done, it is a great chance to enjoy pure pedigree Highland beef.
