The Oban Times

Love is still in the air this week

WHERE IS THIS?

ANOTHER Valentine’s Day done and dusted with not too many broken hearts I hope, writes Oban town ambassador Kay McDonald.

But there is still time to celebrate with the Valentine tea dance on Saturday in Glencruitten Church Hall from 2pm to 4.30pm, or a wee night out to the Red Hot Chilli Pipers in the Corran Halls.

My preferred date for Valentine’s weekend is going to be something to eat in one of the very fine establishments we have all over the town and a visit to the cinema which has some great films on at the moment. I’m really looking forward to Downsizing but all the films showing have appeal. I would recommend Coco no matter what age you are, as it has everything – laughter, tears and great music.

It’s also time to get your tickets for the Oban High School former pupils’ dinner dance in March as they tend to go like hot cakes so be quick if you want to attend. All the details are, as usual, on Oban What’s On.

Time to start thinking about the two fantastic events that the Lions put on during the summer as well.

Oban Charities Day and the Great Oban Raft Race are fast approaching so start planning your stall and building your raft, June will be here before you know it.

The photo last week was taken at the Perle (formerly Caledonian) Hotel and this week’s is slightly harder to find but not too far from the town centre.
