View from the Chamber

-

LAST week saw the start of our annual calendar of events at Lochaber Chamber of Commerce with a members’ lunch and seminar at Ben Nevis Distillery to showcase the services of member business, Highland Business Associates.

Ewan MacFarlane, from Highland Business Associates, outlined the help he can offer businesses in cutting their existing costs and accessing appropriate banking and finance solutions.

Ewan’s consultancy can work with businesses of all sizes and in all sectors, and we were delighted to welcome staff and owners from a wide variety of business types and sizes to the informal lunch event.

Today (Thursday February 15), Kirk Tudhope, of Ledingham Chalmers law firm, will talk us through the big changes coming in the rules governing the way that companies store and handle customer and client data.

The new rules – known as GDPR – will come into effect on May 25 this year, and all companies need to make sure they know what to do. Next week’s article will outline key steps identified from the event, with top tips for companies to make sure they are compliant with the new rules.

If you’d like to start coming along to our calendar of free member events, it’s easy to do – simply call the chamber office and become a member.

We host regular events covering employment law, members’ social events, social media marketing, legislation and tourism-specific training. And if you don’t see what you’re after, we’ll try our best to provide events and training that meet your needs.

Join us today and see how we can help your business to thrive. At Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, we’re committed to helping our members achieve their business goals. If you’d like to join us please give us a call on 01397 705 765 or visit www.lochaberchamber.co.uk.
