A post on our Facebook page about the state of roads in Argyll drew a vociferous response.

Hilary Hannah: ‘Having driven to the Vale of Leven on Friday, the roads are a disgrace. It took me over two hours to get there. Taynuilt, Lochawe, Inveraray road full of potholes. Certainly they are doing work on the Inveraray road taking away the bad corner, but apart from that...nothing! If cars get damaged due to this, I hope the roads department are going to pay compensation.’ Fiona-Ann Vick: ‘At the bit just before Tyndrum, the car in front of us nearly did an emergency stop, which was fine, but the two cars behind us started blasting their horns and overtook us and the car in front of us. Taynuilt is terrible. I ended up with a smashed windscreen because of all the stones in the road at the pot holes.’

Geordie Grieve: ‘From the Rest and be Thankful up to Kennacraig was the worst I’ve seen roads in Scotland for 40 years.’

Angela van der Wal: ‘Our car is at the garage with a broken alloy and tyre because of a big pothole near Lochawe on Wednesday night.’

Ali MacLean: ‘The surface between Crianlarich and Tyndrum is an absolute joke.’

Anne Currie: ‘Our family made this same journey on Wednesday last and can relate to these comments. Numerous

signs for flooding but with the flooding it made it even more difficult to cope with the potholes.’

Undine Achilles-Day: ‘Try the B845 from Taynuilt to Dalavich and Ford! Scary!’

Jennifer Pyper: ‘Really bad hole just about Ardlui Hotel heading to Oban. Seen a BEAR van in lay-by next to bad uneven road before Tyndrum heading to Oban. Roads are shockingly bad, yet some idiots still drive too fast on approach. There’s going be a bad accident soon if not sorted.’

Tom Hayward: ‘Pick a road, any road, all pretty bad.’

Anna Daley: ‘About mile west of Tyndrum!’
