Argyll and Lochaber shepherds impress at stockjudging event
COMPETITORS travelled from across Lochaber and Argyll to compete in the annual stockjudging competition.
Ninety four competitors came to Ben Nevis Auction Mart in Torlundy, near Fort William, on Friday February 2, where judge John Nudds inspected eight different classes of sheep supplied by local shepherds and estates. Results:
Children, aged five to 16: 1 Megan Campbell, 334; 2 Duncan MacDonald, 324; 3 Jessica Ann MacDonald, 316. Ladies: 1 Sandra Wood, 336. Open competition: 1 Roddy MacLeod, 336; 2 Paulo Berrardelli, 358; 3 Blair Menzies, 355.
Highest place local: Roddy MacLeod, 366.
Team competition: 1 Ewan Cameron and Robbie Campbell, 683; 2 Zoe MacKay and Blair Menzies, 681; 3 Sybil and George MacPherson, 660.

Proceeds from the event were donated to two local charities, with MS Lochaber and Shopmobility each receiving £400.
The stockjudging committee thanks all the competing shepherds for bringing their sheep to be judged, as well as the ladies for scoring the results.
The committee also thanks the local companies and friends who donated raffle prizes and the ladies who sold tickets for the draw.
