Get out and enjoy the wonderful walks in Oban

-

I HAD a wonderful walk at the start of this week from Station Square along the seafront to the War Memorial, then on to Dunollie on the Coach Path, writes BID4Oban town ambassador Kay McDonald.

It was cold but dry and I felt fantastic at the end of it. I’d had time to admire the scenery and the new life starting to grow all around me, and appreciate how clean and fresh the air was. It really raised my spirits and left me feeling alive and happy.

Walking is so good for your physical and mental health, but we all tend to get wrapped up in all the other things we have to do and forget to look after ourselves.

A good walk is one of the best ways to do that.

I’m lucky I have a dog which means I have to get out and walk. Even on the most awful of days, when I dread it, once I’m out and about I always get something out of my walk.

We’re lucky to live in a place where whichever direction you go there is no shortage of beautiful walks of all degrees of length and terrain.

Even a short walk through the town can have huge benefits, from the exercise to the social aspect of getting you out of the house and meeting people. It’s lovely to be out for a walk and have most people say hello and smile. It’s only a small thing, but it can really cheer up your day.

So go on, no excuses, get your coat on and go for a walk. You’ll be amazed how good you feel at the end of it.

It will also give you the chance to look out for this week’s photo. Last week’s photo was from above The Original Factory Shop in Combie Street. I had never noticed it before.
