2018 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final comes to Oban

THE FINAL of shinty’s blue riband trophy, the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, will take place at Mossfield, Oban, on Saturday September 15 2018.

This will be the 111th Camanachd Cup Final and takes place in the Camanachd Associatio­n’s 125th year.

Camanachd Associatio­n president Keith Loades said: ‘We are delighted to announce that the 2018 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final will be held at Mossfield Stadium, Oban.

‘This year’s final represents a significan­t opportunit­y across Argyll and Bute and beyond to raise the profile of shinty and work together to engage even more people in Scotland’s indigenous team sport, shinty.’

THE TULLOCH Homes Camanachd Cup first round draw was made at the Municipal Buildings, Oban, on Wednesday February 28. The draw was made by Argyll and Bute councillor Roddy McCuish with Camanachd Associatio­n president Keith Loades and councillor Jim Lynch in attendance.

Kenny Wotherspoo­n’s Oban Celtic side have been given a home draw against fellow Marine Harvest National Division side Strathglas­s. Camanachd Cup and look forward to this year’s tournament culminatin­g in the final in Oban, a great venue. ‘I am sure the cup will throw up a few surprise results along the way but the winner, as always, will be worthy of it.

‘We wish all the teams the very best.’

Roddy McCuish, councillor for Oban South and the Isles, added: ‘We are looking forward to welcoming the Camanachd Cup to Oban,

Kilmallie head south to play Ballachuli­sh at Jubilee Park. Fort William from the National Division are off to Taynuilt Sports Field to play Taynuilt from the league below.

Inveraray welcome Glasgow Mid Argyll to The Winterton.

Inverness are the only north side to be given a home tie and they will welcome Beauly to the Bught Park.

Bute go straight through to the courtesy of an opening round bye. last 16 especially in such a prestigiou­s year for the associatio­n. The whole town is looking forward to a great final in a great venue in Oban. It’s great for Oban and great for Argyll and Bute.’

Oban last hosted the final in 2015 when Lovat beat Kyles Athletic 2-1 in the final to lift the trophy for the first time since 1953.

The final will be shown live on BBC Two Scotland and on the BBC Sport website.

Ballachuli­sh v Kilmallie Taynuilt v Fort William Inverness v Beauly Inveraray v Glasgow Mid Argyll Oban Celtic v Strathglas­s Bye – Bute

The Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup first round ties will be played on Saturday May 12. Bute and the five first round winners join the ten Marine Harvest Premiershi­p sides in the second round draw.
