View from the Chamber

-

PREMIUM members of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce were delighted to welcome Humza Yousaf, the Scottish Minister for Transport and the Islands, to their latest business forum.

In a very productive meeting at BSW Timber on February 26, the Premium member businesses were able to draw the minister’s attention to the key local transport issues affecting their enterprises and the wider community.

They also heard directly from the minister about work being done to address the most pressing transport issues and were able to pass on valuable first-hand evidence on the economic and social impacts of congestion in and around Fort William.

Lochaber Chamber of Commerce regularly hosts meetings with Scottish ministers and other key decision-makers. By working together through the chamber, local businesses can make sure that those in power hear directly about the concerns and priorities of our business community.

Everyone who live and work in the region are very aware of the transport problems in and around Fort William, especially during the busy summer months. Therefore, LCC is pleased that the Fort William Strategic Transport Study is under way to identify what improvements are needed to support a thriving Fort William in the future.

Commissioned by the Highland Council, HIE, HITRANS and Transport Scotland, the study gives residents and businesses a chance to contribute their views on the longterm transport needs of our growing community.

To have your say, visit Fort William Library today (Thursday March 8) between 1pm and 7pm to talk directly to the AECOM survey team, or fill in the online survey at www. placecheck.info/maps/fortwilliam.
