On Friday March 23, the prospective candidates will face questions from the public and debate on issues affecting residents in ward 11, which spans an area of Lochaber which includes Invergarry, Caol, Glenfinnan, Mallaig and Knoydart.

Organised by Kilmallie Community Council, in collaboration with Caol Community Council, the hustings will take place at Caol Community Centre between 7pm and 9pm. The event will give voters a chance to put questions to all the candidates and hear what they have to say on local issues affecting constituents.

The candidates standing are: Ronald Joseph Campbell (Independent), Alex MacInnes (SNP), Catherine Margaret Mackinnon (Independent), Denis Rixson (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Ian Smith (Conservative) and Colin ‘Woody’ Wood (Independent).

The two current Caol and Mallaig council members are councillors Allan Henderson (Independent) and Ben Thompson (Independent).

Those intending to vote are reminded that the single transferable vote system will be used. Instead of using a cross, voters should number the candidates in the order of their choice.
