Old Oban Slide Show helps ambassadors in training

- KAY MCDONALD editor@obantimes.co.uk

I CAN’T believe how lucky we’ve been with our weather lately. It’s been freezing but clear and bright and most people I talk to seem happier and more energised. I know I am.

We’re getting ready to start training to take walking tours of the town and I know I’m going to learn so much more about Oban during it.

I’m going to start with the Old Oban Slide Show on Friday night in the Masonic Hall with Bob McCulloch. They are always so enjoyable, seeing the differences and similarities between then and now.

It’s going to be a hectic weekend as I’m going to take part in the ‘Keep Oban Beautiful’ Spring Clean and tidy up the part of town I live in. There are lots of opportunities to take part and it’s such a wonderful thing to do at this time of year when the sun highlights all the bits of rubbish lying about.

Please if you care about our lovely town take some time out of your day to do a little bit, even just your own street. It’s a chance to do something positive for the community and join people who take a pride in where they live.

If you feel inspired to help, contact Claire Rizos at c.rizos@btinternet.com or call her on 07891 543540. She can help with equipment and where to leave your rubbish for collection.

It would be so lovely to start the spring and summer with a litter-free town and perhaps it would inspire everyone to keep it that way. You can always hope.

Last week’s photograph was maybe a bit too easy - it was one of the new trees in Station Square. So this week I’ve gone for something a bit more out of the way, but not too far.
