❚ Lochaber Piping Society holds its annual youth competitio­n on Saturday (March 24), starting at 9.30am at Lochaber High School.

❚ Nether Lochaber Sewing Group is having an exhibition of quilts made by its members in the Nether Lochaber Village Hall. The quilts will be on display from 10am to 4pm from tomorrow (March 23), Saturday March 24 and Sunday March

25.

❚ There will be a defibrilla­tor training session at Glenfinnan House Hotel on Sunday, March 25, at 10.30am.

❚ Staff and volunteers from Caol-based Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) for sight and hearing support will visit Morvern Medical Centre in Lochaline on Tuesday March 27.

From 10.30am until 12.30pm the LSC representa­tives will offer advice and assistance to anyone locally with a hearing or sight loss.

The team will also repair and maintain NHS hearing aids, supply batteries and provide re-tubing. No appointmen­t required for this free service.

❚ Off Beat Bikes is organising another open water swim on Friday March 30. Swimmers will meet at the Old Fort by the college at 10am. Wet suits are recommende­d.

❚ On Saturday March 31, from 2pm to 4.30pm, Lochaber Sensory Care is having an Easter-time awareness and small fundraisin­g event with a ‘Scavenger Hunt’ in the 19 shops taking part on Fort William High Street.

‘Hunters’ will have to find the individual letters of Lochaber Sensory Care which will be placed in the shops.

There is also an optional quiz with a prize for the winner.

Full instructio­ns will be given when collecting the entry form at Fort William Town Team Hub in the Parade, starting at 2pm. Entry is £5 for a group of four, £2 per adult and £1 per child.

❚ The next meeting of Fort William Scottish Women’s Institute will be on Monday April 2 at 7.15 pm in the Montrose Centre, Inverlochy when Liz Robertson will take the members through a gentle exercise routine.
