West Highland College UHI welcomes new board members
THE board of management at West Highland College UHI has appointed two new independent board members.
John C Hutchison, chairman of the board, has welcomed the appointment of Bill Mitchell and Lisa MacAndrew, who, he said, will both bring a wealth of experience to their role as independent members of the board.
Bill lives in Ardelve, near Kyle of Lochalsh, and has nearly 40 years’ business and consulting expertise in senior international positions for some of the world’s best-known organisations.
He works with organisations across the UK, Europe and the USA in the areas of corporate performance and corporate recovery. He has lectured at both Strathclyde and Edinburgh Business Schools on contemporary people management and organisation design issues.
Lisa is the general manager of digital and customer experience for the global company Computershare and has more than 14 years of experience in creating and executing digital and marketing strategies for global corporations as well as start-ups. Spending her time between Australia and the UK, she bases herself in Lochyside, Fort William, while in the UK. She was born and raised in Fort William and left living there full-time 20 years ago to go to university in Glasgow.
In welcoming new members, Mr Hutchison said: ‘Both Bill and Lisa have worked elsewhere in the world but by accepting a position on the board they are demonstrating great enthusiasm for the college and the local communities. Bill has lived in Lochalsh for many years and Lisa herself was born and brought up in Fort William and retains close connections to the area.
‘Lisa will sometimes be joining meetings from her Australian base, using the same video-conferencing facilities that the college and the UHI use across the Highlands and Islands for its networked courses, demonstrating that distance and remoteness is no obstacle to full participation in college life.’
