Olympic medallist opens new Aldi store

-

OLYMPIC silver medal rower Polly Swann will officially open Aldi’s new Fort William store today (Thursday April 12) at 8am.

Swann, who marked her Olympic debut by winning silver with the women’s eight at the Rio de Janeiro games in 2016, spoke ahead of the Fort William store opening when she said: ‘I can’t wait to open the new store and welcome excited local shoppers.

‘Aldi has been a great support to Team GB for over five years now, so it’s great that I can help give back to the communities its stores are part of.’

In a welcome boost to the local economy, 18 jobs have been created with the launch of the new North Road store, which spans more than 1,140 sqm of retail space, and has the use of 240 shared car-parking bays.

The first 30 shoppers to arrive on the morning will each receive a complimentary bag full of delicious fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range, as part of Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh initiative, which encourages children aged five to 14 to develop their understanding and love of fresh, healthy food.

Store manager Arnas Lukosevicius told us: ‘We’re thrilled that Polly will be joining us to welcome local shoppers to the new store. We’ve got some fantastic opening week special buys on offer, as well as some excellent prices on fresh British products, so we look forward to opening our doors to everyone on April 12.’
