Benderloch mum Nikki Warham was given a huge boost when comedian Jason Manford tweeted his support and asked his fans also to back her appeal for funding to help her with travel and accommodation costs to be with her new baby in hospital in Paisley. More than £5,700 was raised.

Laura MacStee: ‘Lovely kind gesture from Jason. I am glad your baby is home safe and sound. Bliss and Tommy’s are both great charities that help save babies lives if you are looking for somewhere to donate the excess money that has been collected.’ Marion Templeman: ‘There’s also the Glasgow Children’s Hospital charity that gives to all the neonatal units in Glasgow including the Royal Alexandra so would be giving back to the hospital who saved your baby.’

Marion Millar: ‘Great idea and would be helping so many more families in similar situations.’

Fiona-Ann Vick: ‘That’s fantastic amount raised it could help so many more parents in your situation , now you don’t need to travel up and down to see your baby , I’m sure the excess money you haven’t used for the purpose you were fundraising for could help others and would be greatly appreciated.’

Claire Oswald: ‘Congratulations Nikki.’ Jacqualine Macallister: ‘There is also another Oban family who are down in Glasgow recently due to there wee one being very ill which I’m sure donating some of the excess money would be a tremendous help to them for the same reason like traveling and accommodation. Glad ur wee 1 is home safe and well.’

There was a mixed reaction to the news that councillors had agreed to allow a hut at Seil to be saved. Fiona MacMillan: ‘So pleased it was allowed to stay seems our councillor’s can sometimes do the right thing.’ Minnie Moo: ‘Disappointed but not surprised at the councillors’ poor decision. And having made such a poor decision they have to have another meeting to try to justify it so it is less likely to be challenged.’
