With the abundance of local talent right here on our doorstep, Oban Live – and The Oban Times, the event’s media partner – have once again teamed up to give one local band or artist the chance to perform at Oban Live 2018. Performing to thousands at Argyll’s biggest live music event, taking place at Mossfield Stadium, Oban, June 8 & 9, the winning act will get their very own slot on the line-up to showcase their talents. Who chose the shortlist?

Finlay Wells

Owner of Nutshell Music in Oban, guitarist for band COAST, record producer, tutor in guitar, bass and audio engineerin­g.

Campbell Cameron

Presenter on Oban FM’s Wednesday Drivetime Show, former director and chairman of Oban FM, founder director and former chairman of Oban Phoenix Cinema, supporter and promoter of local music and events.

Daniel Gillespie

Founder member and accordion player with Skerryvore, co-founder of Tiree Music Festival and Oban Live.

Andy Bruce

Production Manager at The Oban Times, lead singer and bassist for former local band Signal Fires.

Rory “O’B” Byrne

Rapper, guitarist and singer songwriter, originally from Oban and now based in Glasgow with his band Busker Rhymes.

Kevin “K9” Irvine

Started rapping in 2004 and since then he has released several EPs. An advocate of new music in and around Oban. Winner, along with rap partner Rory O’B, of Oban Unsigned 2017.
