Kyokushinkai Karate
THE IKKU Perth club has organised a beach training session on April 28 in St Andrews, and members of the Oban and Lochgilphead clubs will be attending this event. A junior tournament is being planned for late in May and preparations are under way for the Irish Open at the end of June in Dublin.
No beginners are being taken on at this time until the end of June to allow those already training to concentrate on their syllabus work for the next grading, which will be held in June.

Kickboxing
By the time this goes to print Jessica McCulloch, Robbie, Billy and Adam Bratton, Cody and Henley McCulloch, Logan Galbraith and Lewis May will have fought in the full contact Kyokushin Cup at the ARC Gym in Glasgow. Full account and photos in the next report.
Meanwhile, training continues as normal with juniors at 4.30pm on Wednesdays and Fridays and 11am on Sundays, seniors are 6pm on Wednesday and Fridays, women-only sessions are 1pm on Sundays and Kick-Fit Mondays at 6pm. Beginners are always welcome, first session is free and there are discounts for multiple session.

Shukokai Karate
The students are currently being put through their paces getting ready for the grading test and tournament at the end of the month.

BJJ
Oban BJJ travelled to Glasgow Warriors stadium in Glasgow with two debutants, Gregory Black and Paul McGhee.
Gregory was up first in the nogi section and, after a tough opening fight victory against a far more experienced opponent, he went on to dominate and win gold in his division. In the gi section he can count himself unlucky to just get a bronze after showing composure and patience in taking the third place.
Paul McGhee was beaten on points to take silver and can be proud of himself for not getting submitted after escaping various tough positions during his final.
Three medals from two virgin competitors shows how the club continues to produce very good level practitioners in ever tougher competitions where the level of opponents continue to improve.
Classes are every week day at 7.30pm.
