SEVERAL local businesses attended an event at Blas Restaurant in Fort William last week to celebrate the launch of the 2018 VIBES – Scottish Environment Business Awards.

The VIBES awards aim to recognise and reward all businesses that are championing sustainability by identifying ways to tackle the impact on the planet by reducing consumption on its resources.

During the event, there was the opportunity to hear from a range of speakers, including Nevis Range, Lochaber Environment Group, Blas Restaurant as well as previous local VIBES champions, Glenuig Inn.

Commenting on the awards, Steve Macfarlane, director of Glenuig Inn, said: ‘The awards are a fantastic way for businesses to get recognition for the steps they are taking to benefit the environment as part of achieving their overall business objectives. We would encourage any business thinking about entering the awards to do so, the opportunities it offers are fantastic and having the chance to measure yourself and learn from other businesses is hugely worthwhile.’
