Harley Davidson bikers rumble through Lochaber
FORT William’s first Harley Davidson motorcycle rally took place last weekend with bikers from across the country coming together for a roaring weekend of riding at the Rumble Under the Ben.
Basing themselves at An Aird shinty pitch for a camping weekend, a group of about 15 Harley Davidson enthusiasts made the most of the glorious sunshine on Saturday to show off their bikes both on and off the road.
On Saturday morning there was a display of bikes around the shinty club which included about half a dozen vintage and classic motorcycles on show. Members of the public were in awe of the bikes as they were given the chance to get up close to some exquisite examples of Harley Davidson, a name synonymous with motorcycling.
This was followed by a ride-out of all the bikes, taking them from the shinty club, through Middle Street, across the Corran Ferry, around Ardnamurchan and back.
Organised by Fort William local Chris Jones, a member of the Harley Davidson Riders’ Club GB, the Rumble Under the Ben was a success in bringing like-minded owners from as far as Stonehaven and Glasgow together for a weekend of biking fun in the glorious landscape of Lochaber.
Mr Jones said that the event proved highly popular and he already has an eye on next year’s event, which he hopes will be bigger and better.
