SWI ARGYLL FEDERATION SHOW

THE DISPLAY of baking, handcrafts, knitting, artwork, floral art, photography and much more at the SWI Argyll Federation show had to be seen to be believed.

The Scottish Women’s Institute Argyll Federation show was held at Hunter’s Quay Holiday Village near Dunoon on Saturday April 21. Institutes from all over the region came along to show the results of their hard work. One of the primary organisers of the event was Catherine Smith of Kilmichael Glassary SWI, recently central councillor for the Argyll Federation.

She said: ‘There have been some excellent exhibits at this show and the venue at Hunter’s Quay Holiday Village has been very good. Thanks go to Anne Fiddes, Argyll Federation secretary, who was really behind organising the event.’

Trophy winners: Large Institute Shield (24 members and over): Oban.

Medium Institute Shield (13-25 members): Kilmore and District. Small Institute Trophy (12 members and under): Kilmichael Glassary.

MacPherson Trophy (institute with most points per member): Kilmichael Glassary.

Poltalloch Trophy (teamwork – knitting): Lochgilphead.

Mrs Louise Wilson Trophy (best individual entry in Poltalloch Trophy): Melanie Norman, Lochgilphead.

Foursomes Banner (teamwork – handcrafts): Kilmore and District. Houston Trophy (teamwork – celebration buffet): Oban.
