Leisuresport Stableford Trophy Round 1 - 1 James MacMillan 40pts; 2 Gary Wilson 31pts; 3 Graham Melvin 30pts.
Ladies: April, six ladies from Dalmally Golf Club competed in the Inter-County Foursomes at Douglas Park Golf Course in Milngavie.
Among those taking part was Ann Colthart, ladies captain at Dalmally who is now captain of the Dumbarton and Argyll County Ladies Association.
Ann would encourage any women in Argyll with a handicap of 28 and under to consider joining the County, saying ‘Membership of the County Association is a wonderful opportunity to ‘up your game’, meet other good, women golfers and play on some excellent courses’.
For more information about the County Association, you can contact Ann by e mailing her at dalmallygolfclub@outlook.com
Open Day: With the sun shining and the course in great condition, the start-of-season open day at Dalmally Golf Club was a resounding success.
Whether adult or junior, the day was designed for those wanting to try golf for the first time, for those thinking about returning to the game or, simply, for the plain curious.
There was the chance to come along, meet our ClubGolf/ Get-into-Golf coaches, Janet Buchanan and Colleen Brown who were on hand with informal lessons, fun golf and an introduction to the course.
Members of the Committee were out ‘in force’ too, welcoming and meeting visitors, providing information and giving an idea of what golf at Dalmally has to offer.
Many have signed up for a series of six-Saturday coaching sessions, starting on May 5 at 10am for juniors and 11am for adults.
If you missed out on the open day and wish more information, contact Janet and Colleen at dalmallygolfclub@outlook.com
Isle of Seil
THE BRILLIANT sunshine on Saturday April 21 brought out a larger number of competitors for the ‘Curly Cup’ competition than Seil Golf Club has seen for many a year. Once again it was youth that triumphed, this time young Joe McVicar from Easdale Island taking the honours, lifting the trophy with a nett score of 67, closely followed by Lewis Campbell with a nett 68 and in 3rd place John Morgan on 70.
Sunday April 29 saw the first Texas Scramble of the season, again played in brilliant sunshine. The trio of Bill Dempster, Brien Dickey and Ron Hetherington came home just ahead of George Fleming Gordon McKenzie and John Taylor who were followed in third place by Mary Phillips Peter Hines and Lewis Campbell.
This Saturday is ‘Give it a Try’ day at the club when the members invite the community at large to try the sport of golf with an afternoon of putting and chipping competitions, a special easy short course for beginners and children and a Stableford competition for the more experienced players.
