LOCHABER is a great place to live, work, study and visit, and part of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce’s role is promoting the area as the Outdoor Capital of the UK.

We promote the area directly to visitors through the Outdoor Capital of the UK website and social media channels, and represent our tourism members at travel trade events, like the recent VisitScotland Expo.

Lochaber Chamber of Commerce was proudly flying the Outdoor Capital of the UK flag to promote Lochaber at the annual VisitScotland Expo in Glasgow earlier this month.

This is Scotland’s premier international travel trade event, which gives Scottish tourism businesses the chance to promote their products and services directly to potential buyers from around the globe.

Joining Lochaber Chamber of Commerce marketing executive Jodie Fraser on the eye-catching Outdoor Capital of the UK stand were Nix Forster, from Off Beat Bikes in Fort William High Street, and Neil MacLeod from Caledonian Discovery.

Nix and Neil were invaluable in assisting Jodie during the event, sharing their knowledge and love of the area to help promote the wide range of attractions on offer.

More than 60 contacts were made with companies around the world in a whirlwind couple of days for the team.

The past year has been a fantastic time for Scottish tourism, with a 14.8 per cent increase in overseas visits.

VisitScotland recently unveiled the next themed year for Scottish tourism in 2020 as the ‘Year of Scotland’s Coast and Waters’, supporting the Scottish marine and coastal tourism sector. This themed year offers huge promotional potential for tourism in Lochaber and we’re looking forward to helping our member businesses to make the most of it.

If you’re involved in tourism and you’d like to promote your business as part of the Outdoor Capital of the UK, call Jodie or Lisa to chat about joining Lochaber Chamber of Commerce on 01397 705765 or visit www. lochaberchamber.co.uk
