The Lorne bar on Stevenson Street, Oban, is one of the town’s hostelries with a reputation for great music – practically every talented young band has played here, alongside other well-established acts. The menu has a combination of locally-caught fish and seafood, and the management prides themselves on a great range of beers, wine, good value and excellent service. Their feast from a fiver menu is popular with locals and visitors alike. The Lorne Bar burger and the pub’s own steak pie are favourite signature dishes. The Lorne prides itself on being dog- and childfriendly. It has a great beer garden and food is served from noon until 9pm. During Oban Live, The Lorne is open until 2am, on both nights, with entertainment. The drinks promotions are Oban Live venom; pints of dark fruit cider, bottles of Peroni and shots of Sambuca. The Lorne Bar also prides itself on its great choice of ales and lagers, and believes customers would be hard-pushed to find anywhere in Oban with the choice of draught beers of quality it has on offer – something which is reflected in the fact that it is Cask Marque approved. Cask Marque assessors visit the pubs in the scheme, unannounced, twice a year to check all the cask ales on sale for temperature, taste, appearance and aroma. All the beers must reach the required standard for the pub to pass.
