Rockfield launches tours to support community shares

-

The Rockfield Centre has raised more than £36,000 in the week since the community shares were launched.

Last weekend chairman Gordon McNab led four tours of the main building and this coming weekend he will be doing the same on Saturday on the hour from 1pm.

He said: ‘We are asking everyone to dig deep and buy community shares – even if it’s a family or group clubbing together – it’s a way of investing in your community. The Rockfield Centre will provide something for everyone when the main building is open.

‘Come along and join a tour of parts of the main building and see what it will be able to offer you, your family and visitors to the town.’

Gordon added that as well as individuals he was looking to businesses in the town to invest: ‘This is an ideal opportunity to give something back to your community. When the centre is up and running it will boost spending in the town and surrounding area since the centre will both attract as a destination and keep more people in the town and surrounding area to spend across all sectors. Please give generously so that together we can all make this happen.’

To find out more about tours of the main building check out the Facebook page of Oban Communities Trust, The Rockfield Centre or call into the office at the community huts and sign up.

Meanwhile the community huts were full last weekend with the Master Builders Lego Club run by Fiona Shaw and the centre’s Mini Music club.

A fully-booked writing workshop with Kevin MacNeil was a great success and Kevin also participated in the open mic night, Let’s Make A Scene.
