THOUGHT for the week

-

This last week I’ve been handling the topic ‘prayer’, just for myself. What is prayer actually? How do we pray, how did God intend it to be?

I’ve watched videos of an online prayer course, which helped me a bit. They gave me good principles as well as practical and inspiring tools.

What I discovered is this. The heart of prayer is to relate to God. It’s the two-way, intimate communication between Him and us to get to know Him better. That’s inspiring in itself already.

Why and what do I pray? Is it to get my things done, or do I want God to do things for others? Yes, of course we can ask Him these things. But it starts with...being with Him. A relationship forms through getting to know each other and that’s the same with God.

I find that challenging. For me it’s easier to ask Him to change something, to bless a person, to draw people closer to Him...than to just ‘be with Him’, listen to what He says and enjoy His presence.

I don’t know how you relate to God and what your prayers are like.

But be inspired that He wants to relate to you, He wants to communicate with you, both ways.

Our God is a good Father who wants to listen, to speak, to receive from us and to give us. Thank you, Father, that you are.

Be blessed.
