Camanachd Association Youth Director, Willie MacDonald said: ‘The Scotland U17 squad, and the tour itself, is an integral part of shinty’s player pathway. It is the last opportunity for players to test themselves before preparing to step up to U21 and senior level. This year’s squad is made up of some highly skilful players, many of whom already hold spots in their own club’s first team. I am in no doubt that we will see some excellent displays of shinty / hurling skill.’
The squad departs on Sunday July 22 and plays an opening game against County Meath U17 the following day. The annual meeting with Dublin U17 takes place at Parnell Park on Tuesday July 24 with the squad returning home the day after.
