Where to see the fleet

SATURDAY

Craobh Marina—with the mass of yachts mustered for WHYW’s grand opening party.

SUNDAY

Watch the fleet head out from Craobh Marina from 0900 from the end of the causeway to the start off Craobh and racing in Loch Melfort.

MONDAY

See the fleet starting off from Craobh from 10.30 onwards and sailing down Loch Melfort. Cullipool, Easdale Island and Ellenabeich offer good vantage points to see the racing where the fleet comes together.

When in Oban, the fleet berths at Oban Marina, Kerrera, Oban’s North Pier pontoons, Oban Bay community Berthing off Oban Sailing Club, Oban Esplanade or Dunstaffnage.

TUESDAY

Fleet starts off at the north entrance to Oban Bay and Dunstaffnage for racing off Oban for the Tunnock’s fleet and racing to the south of the firth for the Argyll fleet. The fleet head out from Oban and Dunstaffnage Marina from 0900. See the racing from Ganavan for Tunnock’s fleet or Kerrera for the Argyll fleet.

WEDNESDAY

Views from Oban Esplanade, Dunollie Point, from 0700 to see the yachts head to Tobermory. Also Dunstaffnage Marina and Dunstaffnage Castle headland for the yachts departing for start of the race. Passengers on the CalMac ferry to Craignure gain a bird’s eye view through the Firth of Lorn and the entrance to the Sound by Lismore Light. The fleet musters in Tobermory Bay.

THURSDAY

Boats leave Tobermory from 0930 – Head to Rubha nan Gall Lighthouse or Ardmore Point to see the fleets racing at the north entrance to the Sound of Mull.

FRIDAY

Watch from Tobermory Bay at 9.30 as the boats head down the Sound of Mull to Oban. Viewing from the east coast of Mull – the road from Tobermory to Craignure and the CalMac ferry from Craignure back to Oban.
