Spean Bridge man warned to be of good behaviour

The co-owner of a guest house in Spean Bridge was back at Fort William Sheriff Court this week for sentencing.

Eddie Harris, 42, of Inverour Guest House in Spean Bridge, had previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to place a reasonable person in a state of fear and alarm on July 25 this year.

Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald was told Harris had the support of his partner and had deferred sentence until September 11 for a community justice social work report.

Prior to being sentenced this week, Procurator Fiscal Robert Weir recounted the details of what had happened.

He said the incident stemmed from a disagreement between Harris and his husband over walking their dogs.

Harris’s defence agent, Catriona Rowantree, said Harris and his partner were working on their marriage.

Ordering Harris to be of good behaviour for six months, Sheriff MacDonald warned him: ‘I have taken into account all the information given by your solicitor and contained in the criminal justice social work report.

‘This was an unpleasant matter but you are taking steps to deal with it. I will defer sentence for six months for you to be of good behaviour – if you are I will treat you leniently but if not I won’t.’
