Make energy and money saving home improvements with interest-free loans from the Scottish Government
The Scottish Government’s Home Energy Scotland interest-free loan is helping homeowners make energy and money saving improvements to their home.
Up to £38,500 per home is currently available to owner occupiers and some registered private sector landlords in Scotland.
The loan can be used for energy efficiency improvements like insulation and replacing single glazing with double glazing, with cashback grants of up to 25% also available for a limited time.
Home renewables systems like biomass boilers and solar photovoltaic panels are covered as well as energy storage systems and connections to an approved district heating scheme powered by renewable energy.
Loans must be used to improve existing residential buildings. New buildings under construction, where the property is already owned by the intended owner occupier, are also eligible for support for renewables systems or district heating connections but not energy efficiency improvements.
