Lochaber dog show success
Hundreds of dogs of all shapes and sizes were paraded and judged at the Nevis Centre in Fort William on Sunday September 9 when Lochaber and District Canine Society hosted its annual open breed show.
From Pomeranians and Pugs to Huskies and Rottweilers, the society was delighted to welcome nearly 300 dogs and 150 exhibitors from all over Scotland.
Show organiser Lorna Ungoed-Thomas said: ‘Once again we had a very successful and enjoyable show thanks to the hard work of the committee and helpers.
‘The local Army Cadets helped throughout the day and this was much appreciated by the committee and exhibitors.
‘We also thank our sponsors including Ben Nevis Distillery, Direct Pet Supplies, Crown Vets, M&S Dental and Tesco, which provided prizes for the winners.’
The main prize winners were: Best in Show: Caroline Cassidy’s Tibetan Spaniel, Champion Jazpiper Hot Gossip, from South Ayrshire. Reserve Best in Show: Mr and Mrs Collinson’s Borzoi, Hogsmeade Harry Potter, from Banff-shire.
Best Puppy in Show: Pamela Martin’s Japanese Chin, Lizamela Marchello, from Paisley.
Reserve Best Puppy: James Finlay’s Briard, Gilcoru Tajsunset D’Brie, from Fife.
The most successful local exhibitors once again were Heather Turner, Roy Bridge, and Audrey MacDonald, Arisaig, with their Jack Russell Terriers awarded Best Terrier and Best Terrier Puppy.
The society looks forward to celebrating its 25th annual dog show next year on September 8 2019.
