Fort youth teams shine on weekend of action

-

Fort William FC youth teams enjoyed a stellar weekend of football as youngsters from Primary 4 right up to under 17 level all getting on the pitch.

The P6s team played in round one of the Inverness Winter League qualifiers on Saturday for the first time and came away with two wins and a draw. This strong set of results ensured the team will be playing in the league every other week competing against Inverness based teams.

On a Sunny Sunday morning at Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s stadium the Fort’s p4/5s were playing in the ICTFC MacDonalds Festival. They took three teams up to the event and each team played brilliantly with comments from other coaches on how well they passed and moved the ball - a credit to the great work the Fort William Youth’s primary team coaches are doing .

The under 13s followed on from a 12-1 win against Alness last week when they were tasked with taking on Inverness Clach at the Bught Park . After falling behind to an early goal they rolled up their sleeves and put in an incredible team effort, coming away with a 3-1 victory which may be their finest to date.

The under 15s continued their fine start to the season with a resounding 14-1 win at home against Dingwall.

Finally, the under 17s were also up against Dingwall at home playing after the under 15s game. The match looked to be a comfortable victory for the Fort who took a 4-1 lead. Dingwall fought back to 5-5 but with just minutes left the Fort scored and ran out 6-5 winners .
