Oban restaurant is put up for sale at £850,000

-

Oban Fish and Chips in George Street has been put on the market for £850,000.

Offering a takeaway service via a dedicated counter space to the front of the shop, allowing customers an open view of the fryer and food display area, the business also provides a 40-cover restaurant. Ancillary areas for both the restaurant and takeaway are included, with a galley kitchen, dishwashing area and prep areas.

Originally established in the early 1990s and hailed by award-winning chef Rick Stein as having some of the best fish and chips he has ever tasted in an episode of the BBC’s Food Heroes programme, the business has been successfully trading under the current owner for more than 14 years.

With a prime location and strong reputation, Oban Fish and Chip Restaurant enjoys return custom from visitors and residents.

Due to retirement, the current owners Lillian Hutchison, her husband and their son decided to sell the business. They said: ‘We appointed Christie & Co due to their specialist knowledge in the retail sector.’

Mark Lavery, from Christie & Co, added: ‘From the outset, the business has attracted a lot of interest. Oban Fish and Chip Restaurant is currently very successful and would be a great addition to any existing buyer’s portfolio or a first-time buyer looking for an extremely busy business with a healthy profit margin.

‘Due to its coastal location and great access links to the Scottish isles, the restaurant is ideally located to capture the tourism trade, while enjoying steady levels of business from a loyal, local following.’
