O’Brien appointed Nevis Range CEO
Nevis Range announced a raft of changes to its senior leadership team last week as four new members were appointed.
The Aonach Mor resort has appointed former destination manager for the Outdoor Capital of the UK Chris O’Brien as chief executive officer (CEO). He takes over from interim CEO Rod Pashley.
A well-known figure in Scottish tourism, Mr O’Brien joined Nevis Range in 2017 and is keen to use his experience in the sports, leisure and entertainment industries to boost Nevis Range’s reputation as a world-class outdoor resort.
‘Together we are going to make Nevis Range the number one outdoor experience in the UK,’ he said. ‘Many companies aspire to change an industry yet very few have all the elements required – talent, resources and perseverance. Nevis Range has proven that it has all three in abundance.’
The new senior leadership team at Nevis Range also features Chris MacPherson as engineering director. Mr MacPherson has worked his way up to the role since joining the company in 1995 and he joined the board in 2008.
He said: ‘After more than two decades of service at Nevis Range I can honestly say I am very excited about the future. With the strength of the management team there is no limits to what we can achieve as an organisation.’
John Sutherland has also joined the senior team as activities director having been involved with the company’s developments from an early age as a ski instructor. He said he was excited to start the new role and was keen to see the continued success of the company as an all yearround visitor destination.
The fourth and final addition to the senior team is Grant Huggan who will take up the role of operations and facilities manager.
Grant came to Nevis Range in 2008 to work the winter as a ski technician. Although he never planned to stay, the staff and the ever-changing business saw him become the manager of the Nevis Range Ski Hire department.
