Mull and Iona Pipe Band are on top of The World
Mull and Iona Pipe Band were invited to perform for the residents and guests on board The World cruise ship on September 14.
They were the first pipe band ever to perform on this prestigious vessel. Members were taken by tender to the ship where they performed by the swimming pool.
They were then invited into the officers’ mess for a meal and refreshments. After performing on The World, they played on board the tender all the way back to the pontoons in Tobermory Bay and waited for the second tender to berth. Once it had disembarked, the band led the residents and guests along to the Tobermory Hotel where they enjoyed music by Robert MacLeod. Performing on The World has been a highlight of the year for all the band members, who were made very welcome by everyone. They said it was an absolute pleasure representing Mull and Iona on such a prestigious venue.
The band has had a busy year performing at Highland games and shows, both on and off Mull and Iona. They have also been playing in the Isle of Mull Hotel on Tuesday nights, and will be doing so until October 9. They will then be having a short break before resuming practises over the winter. Once the practises have started, the band will resume learners’ lessons, held in Craignure and Creich.
