MacIntyre loses out in Foshan Open play-off

-

Robert MacIntyre took part in the Foshan Open in Guangdong Province in south-east China last week.

The Glencruitten golfer carded a four under par 68 in the first round with six birdies and two bogeys.

Robert went round in level par in round two with one birdies, three bogeys and had a superb eagle three on the par five 18th for a round of 72 and a four under two-round total of 140 to make sure he made the cut and played on the final two days of the competition.

The 22-year-old set the heather on fire to card a superb eight under par 64 in round three to give him a share of the lead. Robert netted eight birdies in a faultless round.

The final round saw Robert card another excellent 65 with five birdies and an eagle on the 18th to give him a four round total of 269 the same as Frenchman Victor Perez which meant a play-off.

Unfortunately for Robert, Perez had a birdie at the first extra hole with the Glencruitten golfer only managing a par. This is the second competition Robert has been defeated in at the first play-off hole.

Ewen Ferguson finished in joint 12th place carding rounds of 69, 64, 70 ,70 for a four round total of 273.

Robert is in the top 15 of the Challenge Tour order of merit alongside other Scots Grant Forrest, Liam Johnstone and David Law.

The Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final takes place at Al Hamra Golf Club from Wednesday October 31 to Saturday November 3.
