Who needs Route you have the A82?

The route from Loch Lomond to Glencoe has been picked as the ideal British road trip in a new study.

The trip featuring Bridge of Orchy and the gorgeous Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park was chosen by more than a quarter of drivers (26 per cent). The scenic second place routes 66 when were Barnstaple in Devon to Newquay in Cornwall and a trip around the New Forest, both of which picked up 13 per cent of votes.

No matter where people were driving, there was no doubt who the perfect passenger would be – their partners.

More than 85 per cent of the 5,000 British drivers surveyed by webuyanycar.com would choose their beloved partner for the road trip, ahead of a celebrity, no matter the star power.

Around a quarter would hire out a special set of wheels courtesy of credit cards to enjoy the road trip in style, while 42 per cent would take the journey in their own car, believing it is about the journey rather than the vehicle.

The most popular choice for the drive was an Aston Martin (24 per cent), followed by a Range Rover (22 per cent) and then a Ford Mustang with 10 per cent.

Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar.com, said: ‘Scotland boasts so many areas of outstanding natural beauty, we can certainly see why the drive from Loch Lomond to Glencoe came out on top.’
